My BABY IS ONE!

We wanted to celebrate Evlyn's 1st birthday in Abilene so her name-sake could be there. Aunts, uncles, and cousins drove to Abilene too, all to party with our little munchkin.

Nannie got upset with me for blowing out baby's candle, hahaha!

We gave Baby a chance to "smash the cake", but she wanted nothing to do with that.
She would rather have Daddy feed her cake...

  YUMMY!!!!
Or that smile could be from someone playing peekaboo with her...

Cousins in da house!!!

The tooth that came OUT

After lots, and lots, and LOTS of waiting, a tooth fiiiiiinally decided to come out of Jonah's mouth! (It must be super comfortable in there!)

Baby Evlyn: 12 months old

At 12 months old, Evlyn is WALKING. She decided to do it differently than her siblings. They took off walking and never looked back. She preferred to take 5 or 6 steps for a few weeks, then on May 22nd made it across the room several times - so we're counting that as the day she started walking - even though she'd kind of prefer to crawl. It's faster.

She's still screaming....but, also giving hugs to stuffed animals, dogs, and occasionally, people. When she hugs, she'll pat and saw "awww" at the same time. Completely adorable.

She absolutely has a "thing" about people touching her face. She looooves soft tickles on her neck and head, but do NOT touch her face. You will get slapped by those dimpled chubby hands.

Her walking gets better every day. She's very patient about it all, practicing carefully but diligently.

I don't want to forget all the sticky cheeks I've wiped (which she hates), or the 3 teeth she has on the bottom and 1 and 1/2 teeth she has on the top (which involves lots of drool).
She's a happy girl. An easy baby. Genuinely only cries when she needs something. There isn't a person, or dog, she's not happy to see. We love her so much!

Rainy Wednesday Field Trip

I took the kids to the library  - a typical Wednesday - and on the way home we passed our city's heritage museum. I don't know why, we just decided to stop and look around.
I had NO idea they would love it so much. Jonah was fascinated by the history, and the train station was particularly exciting.
(The original train station as it would have looked in 1902. ) They thought it was so cool they could walk underneath the train. It was gigantic up close.

He's a Bear!

Cub Scout promotions were Tuesday night. After some pomp and circumstance (and a little face painting), Jonah is a Bear!

p.s. he was not cool with the face paint. Even asked if he could be exempt. Little stinker.
