The days since the accident have been blessed. We realize more and more what an absolute miracle it is that Gracie is okay.
There is NO point of impact on her body - even though (our neighbor says) Gracie went flying like a ragdoll close to 30 feet down the alley.
She shows no signs of emotional trauma - aside from extra caution in roadway/parking lot situations (she immediately grabs Michael's hand). And she had some anxiety Friday night when we got home from the hospital, about Michael leaving to talk to the neighbors. When she heard the back door shut and knew he was going to cross the alley, she wailed, "oh noooooo! Daddy will get hit by a car!" Of course, we assured her that NObody will be hit by a car, because we will all be extra careful around roads.
The doctors warned us of how sore she would be Saturday and Sunday and sent us home with a narcotic laced super-Tylenol. However, Gracie has been sleeping well with simple Motrin, and her only complaints of soreness have been as she RUNS or PLAYS around the house. Her back, near her tailbone, has been sore (though there's no bruising), and her jaw is hurting enough that she hasn't eaten solid foods yet. (A major bummer, since she was really excited for Chickfila nuggets on the way home from the hospital.)
As long as she's eaten enough and not too tired, she's been cheerfully milking the attention. The EMT's gave her a purple stuffed bear, Daddy got her a pink stuffed poodle, Aunt Angie brought over a princess puzzle and other little goodies, and her cousins sent a little castle with stickers - so she's pretty sure she can have whatever she wants. In fact, on Sunday morning she asked for a baby zebra for her birthday. *Ahem*

Becky! Oh...my...heavens. My heart is so full of thankfulness and praise to Jesus the HEALER and PROTECTOR. What an incredible testimony you guys have to His faithfulness. Wow. Paul and I are thanking the Lord along with you. Please let us know if you need anything.
If your mom grandmas like my mom, I bet she's at least Googled zebras to see if it's possible. ;)
Even though I've never met her in person, I sure love that little girl and I'm so very thankful she is okay. Your family is favored and blessed by God.
Ok, so I needed this post for a good chuckle after reading the last one and crying. I've thought of all my connections but I'm stuck, I sure wish I could lend a hand in getting that sweet girl a zebra for her b-day! ;)
Too cute! So happy to hear she is recovering nicely! It took Zoe a good month to even walk by the Pathfinder after we were rear ended, so Gracie may be afraid of that alley for quite some time. Just happy to see her smiling face!!
